Former BROKEN HOPE Drummer Cited With Shooting Gun Into Air While Driving To Birthday Party
April 26, 2011According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Ryan Stanek, the 39-year-old former drummer of the long-defunct 1990s Illinois death metal band BROKEN HOPE, is accused in two states of firing his gun into the air — including while driving — during a birthday celebration.
Stanek, who lives in Trevor, Wisconsin, allegedly fired shots into the air in Antioch, Illinois at 2 a.m. Friday, according to Antioch Police Chief Craig Somerville, and was cited with disorderly conduct while armed and discharge of a firearm within 100 feet of a residence. Stanek is also accused of firing another round into the air while behind the wheel of his car in Wisconsin, Kenosha County sheriff's Lt. Tom Puidokas said. He was cited in Wisconsin for reckless use of a weapon and armed while intoxicated.
BROKEN HOPE released five albums during the 1990s, all of them except 1999's "Grotesque Blessings" featuring Ryan Stanek on drums:
1991: "Swamped in Gore"
1993: "The Bowels of Repugnance"
1995: "Repulsive Conception"
1997: "Loathing"
1999: "Grotesque Blessings"
Former BROKEN HOPE vocalist Joe Ptacek died on January 20, 2010 of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 37 years old.
